HISTORY OF JEEP CJ-5

In October 11, 1954, Kaisar announced the arrival of the Jeep CJ-5, and was smooth styles, including rounded body contours based on the M-38A1 in  Korean War, 1952. The CJ-5 was better from every point of view: more resilient, more comfortable, more versatile and more off-road capable.

It was a little larger than the CJ-3B, because it had longer wheelbase and length. Improvements in engines, axles, transmissions and seating made the CJ-5 with a wheelbase of 81 inches was the ideal vehicle for the public increasingly interested in ATVs.

The big news in 1965 was a new and "tenacious" V6 engine offering 155 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque. From 1973, all Jeep CJ V8 engines were equipped with AMC 304 or 360 cubic inches.

CJ-5, which covers thirty, had the longest production Jeep vehicles. During the sixteen years of ownership of Kaisar, Jeep vehicles were established manufacturing plants in thirty countries, and Jeep vehicles were sold in over 150 countries.

They offered many special editions as "luxury" Tuxedo Park 1964-1967, Camper 1969, "462" 1969, Renegade I 1970 Renegade II 1971, Golden Eagle Super Jeep 1972-1983 and 1973 and 1976. DJ-5  Version was offered with two-wheel drive until 1974. CJ-5 is a popular and enduring legend, probably logged more miles traveled on roads than any other Jeep vehicle.

HISTORY OF JEEP CJ-6

In general, the first CJ owners were unhappy about the lack of space for passengers and equipment. Willys Motors responded with the CJ-6. Basically a CJ-5 with a wheelbase 20 inches longer (101 inches), the CJ-6 combined increased storage capacity, more comfort and superior off-road capability.

The commercial version with two-wheel drive called DJ-6. The export version was manufactured until 1981. The Jeep brand also introduced a forward control (FC) variation cab over engine to the CJ in 1957.

AMC fitted the CJ-6 with heavier axles, bigger brakes and wider tires. In 1965, presented a new and "tenacious" V6 engine as an option for CJ-5 and CJ-6. The 155 hp V6 engine almost doubled the horsepower of the standard four-cylinder engine. From 1973, all Jeep CJ V8 engines were equipped with AMC 304 or 360 cubic inches.

The Tuxedo Park model with chrome was offered from 1964 until the decade of 67. The Perkins engine 192 I4 was an option available (also for the CJ-5) from 1961 until the decade of 69. AMC then equipped the CJ-5 and CJ-6 with heavier axles, bigger brakes and wider tires. The CJ-6 are highly prized by collectors.
