HISTORY OF CHEROKEE CHIEF :

AMC reintroduced the two-door Wagoneer as the Cherokee youth oriented.

The new Cherokee was a sporty two-door Wagoneer and had individual seats, sports steering wheel and bold details designed to attract younger drivers and adventurers.

In February 1974, the Jeep Cherokee was the 1st car to get the prize Achievement Award from Four Wheeler magazine is now known as the prize Four Wheeler of the Year.

Jeep Cherokee Chief was presented in January 1975. The wide track option was available with improved key features inside and out: exterior stripes, larger wheels, axles three inches wider, larger spaces to the front and rear wheels, front and rear Dana 44 and an interior more nice. The package retailed for $ 349 more than the model "S".

Based Cherokee addition, packages of options for this vehicle nine years included S Cherokee, Cherokee Chief, Laredo and Golden Eagle.

In 1976, AMC introduced the CJ-7, the seventh generation of the original vehicle and the first major change in Jeep design in 20 years.

CJ-7 had a wheelbase slightly longer than the CJ-5 to make room for the automatic transmission. CJ-7 showed the door openings square unlike CJ-5 which were rounded. A quick way to tell them apart.

For the first time, the CJ-7 offered an optional molded plastic roof and steel doors.

CJ-7 models with wheelbase of 93.5 "and CJ-5 with a wheelbase of 83.5" were built until 1983 when demand for CJ-7 left AMC no choice but to discontinue the CJ-5 after 30 years production.

Immediately after the package "462" CJ-May 1969 came the Renegade, which had much more performance features functional and big tires, roll bar, lower gears and limited slip differential.

In 1970 I got the Renegade, which is still based on the CJ-5 shortbill Kaiser V6 engine. Same as Renegade II. In the '72 was released long horn CJ AMC motor vehicles became simply "Renegade".

Until '75, the Renegade package included 304-inch V8 engine and many functional features such as alloy wheels, big tires, locking, etc..


HISTORY OF JEEP GOLDEN EAGLE :

The Golden Eagle option package cost $ 200 more than the Renegade package. Originally included a decal eagle, larger tires, a roof soft Levi's, a tire extra in the rear profile extensions wheel lock, tire extra set of comfort, set decoration, tachometer, carpeting and clock.

Daisy Duke made famous the Jeep CJ-7 Golden Eagle 1980 called "Dixie" on the popular Dukes of Hazzard. Currently the car is on display at the Dukes of Hazzard Museum in Nashville, TN.

Golden Eagle Package CJ-5 was available from 1977-1983.

American Motors Corporation acquired Kaiser Jeep Corporation in early 1970. The Jeep Wagoneer continued to refine and improve many advances that emerged during the decade. It presented a new AMC 360 cubic inch V8 and later a 401-cubic-inch V8. The innovative Quadra-Trac 4X4 revolutionized the industry with total capacity (no manual changes).

The Wagoneer Limited (1978-79) was the spiritual successor of the Super Wagoneer and then renamed it Grand Wagoneer. Limited was the most luxurious 4x4 that occurred at that time.

Road & Track magazine called it, "The champagne vehicles 4WD".
