J-10 TRUCK 1980S HISTORY



In 1971, Jeep trucks lost the name and  appeared Gladiator J-10 models (119 inches) or J-20 (131 inches). Improvements included front disc brakes, a new front axle, six-stud wheels and heavier frame cross members.
The truck line J-10 J-Series versions included Honcho, Golden Eagle and 10-4.
J-20 was the largest van GVW (gross vehicle weight), with capacities of more than half a ton to a ton and even with dual rear wheel configuration.
In the years of J-Series trucks were also produced J-30 Series.
All trucks shared the same body design that Jeep Wagoneer and Cherokee, from the cab forward, and offered with flat sided body or side steps.
10-4 The versions produced from 1974 to 1983. The 1978 package consisted mostly of color options and details, the 10-4 package also offered a CB radio factory installed option.
Produced in 1977-1983, the Golden Eagle package includes a grille guard, fog, pick-up bar mat, eight-inch wheels, denim seats, accent stripes and an eagle hood decal driving - all for a premium of $ 749.


1980S GRAND WAGONEER HISTORY


The full-size Wagoneer SJ was retained until 1991, but under the name "Grand Wagoneer".
Marketed as a luxury SUV, was also one of the last vehicles sold in North America with a carburetor.
The 1991 model was available with an emblem of "Final Edition" on the board.

The Laredo package offered in 1980-1986 CJ line.
The typical package included a grill, fender, wheels, hood emblem and chrome accents.

CJ-10 HISTORY

The Laredo package offered on the line CJ-7 from 1982-1986. The typical package included a grill, fender, wheels, hood emblem and chrome accents.

After the CJ-6 was phased out in 1975, Jeep  brand owners again clamored for more room. AMC responded with the CJ-8 "Scrambler." This little truck was similar to the CJ-7, but had a longer wheelbase of 103 inches and a longer rear overhang for added cargo space.
The components were largely similar to those of the CJ-7, but never offered a V8 in the CJ-8 Scramblers and six-cylinder automatic transmission could have AMC 904 model.
Known internationally as the CJ-8, the open cab truck was available with soft or hardtop roof. A version of the Scrambler steel hardtop was exported to Australia and a popular service agency U.S. government. UU. Scramblers used in Alaska cast panel with insulation and automatic transmission.
Former U.S. president. UU. Ronald Reagan was often seen driving his blue Scrambler at the ranch "Sky Ranch".
The Scrambler was replaced by the Jeep Comanche pickup truck of similar size. Although they were not the best sellers at the time, today the Scramblers are most popular among collectors and SUV manufacturers.

From 1973, all Jeep CJ engines were equipped with V-8 AMC 304 or 360 cubic inches. In general, Renegade models had a 304 V8 engine cubic inches (5L), stronger drivetrain, alloy wheels and rear axle differential lock Trac-Lok.

HISTORY OF CHEROKEE CHIEF :

AMC reintroduced the two-door Wagoneer as the Cherokee youth oriented.

The new Cherokee was a sporty two-door Wagoneer and had individual seats, sports steering wheel and bold details designed to attract younger drivers and adventurers.

In February 1974, the Jeep Cherokee was the 1st car to get the prize Achievement Award from Four Wheeler magazine is now known as the prize Four Wheeler of the Year.

Jeep Cherokee Chief was presented in January 1975. The wide track option was available with improved key features inside and out: exterior stripes, larger wheels, axles three inches wider, larger spaces to the front and rear wheels, front and rear Dana 44 and an interior more nice. The package retailed for $ 349 more than the model "S".

Based Cherokee addition, packages of options for this vehicle nine years included S Cherokee, Cherokee Chief, Laredo and Golden Eagle.

In 1976, AMC introduced the CJ-7, the seventh generation of the original vehicle and the first major change in Jeep design in 20 years.

CJ-7 had a wheelbase slightly longer than the CJ-5 to make room for the automatic transmission. CJ-7 showed the door openings square unlike CJ-5 which were rounded. A quick way to tell them apart.

For the first time, the CJ-7 offered an optional molded plastic roof and steel doors.

CJ-7 models with wheelbase of 93.5 "and CJ-5 with a wheelbase of 83.5" were built until 1983 when demand for CJ-7 left AMC no choice but to discontinue the CJ-5 after 30 years production.

Immediately after the package "462" CJ-May 1969 came the Renegade, which had much more performance features functional and big tires, roll bar, lower gears and limited slip differential.

In 1970 I got the Renegade, which is still based on the CJ-5 shortbill Kaiser V6 engine. Same as Renegade II. In the '72 was released long horn CJ AMC motor vehicles became simply "Renegade".

HISTORY OF JEEP GOLDEN EAGLE :

The Golden Eagle option package cost $ 200 more than the Renegade package. Originally included a decal eagle, larger tires, a roof soft Levi's, a tire extra in the rear profile extensions wheel lock, tire extra set of comfort, set decoration, tachometer, carpeting and clock.

Daisy Duke made famous the Jeep CJ-7 Golden Eagle 1980 called "Dixie" on the popular Dukes of Hazzard. Currently the car is on display at the Dukes of Hazzard Museum in Nashville, TN.

Golden Eagle Package CJ-5 was available from 1977-1983.

American Motors Corporation acquired Kaiser Jeep Corporation in early 1970. The Jeep Wagoneer continued to refine and improve many advances that emerged during the decade. It presented a new AMC 360 cubic inch V8 and later a 401-cubic-inch V8. The innovative Quadra-Trac 4X4 revolutionized the industry with total capacity (no manual changes).

The Wagoneer Limited (1978-79) was the spiritual successor of the Super Wagoneer and then renamed it Grand Wagoneer. Limited was the most luxurious 4x4 that occurred at that time.

Road & Track magazine called it, "The champagne vehicles 4WD".

JEEP COMMANDER (XK) HISTORY


The 2006 Jeep Commander was the first seven-passenger Trail Rated 4x4.
Based on the platform of the Grand Cherokee (WK) '05, rectangular Commander was a little longer than the WK (two inches), but a stepped roof three inches taller and stadium-style layout gave room for additional seating in the rear. Rectangular  Commander design with square upright windshield and side immediately distinguishes him from his cousin.

The basic characteristics and  powertrain energy were the same as the Grand Cherokee. Like most 4x4 Jeep models, the commander had the Jeep Trail Rated emblem. To get the Trail Rated, a vehicle must meet the standard performances of traction, ground clearance, maneuverability and the ability to walk.


JEEP COMPASS HISTORY


It first appeared at the 2006 North American International Auto Show , the Jeep Compass is a compact crossover SUV that has available Trail Rated capacity.

DJ JEEP DISPATCHER HISTORY

The Jeep Dispatcher (DJ) was a two-wheel drive version of the popular CJ.

The vehicle looked like CJ but was different in many ways, it was completely closed, was only rear wheel drive, including sliding doors and rear door swing.

JEEP 1963-1987 GLADIATOR - J-SERIES TRUCK

The vans bali Gladiator's size shared the same platform and powertrain front style with Wagoneer.

The Gladiator was available in 120-inch (J-200) or 126-inch (J-300), and had a Dana 20 transfer case and front and rear Dana 44s. A strong independent front suspension was available in half-ton trucks until 1965 but used a more robust front differential 44IFS.

Willys Motors introduced the two-wheel drive Fleetvan was designed for light commercial applications, such as multi-stop delivery of mail and ice cream trucks. Practice has been the watchword for the FJ platform. The Fleetvan was built on a DJ-3A Dispatcher strengthened and maintained the same rough "Jeep" wheelbase of 81 inches and F-134 F-head Hurricane engine platform. JEEP CJ-3B HISTORY

  

Willys CJ  significantly improved on January 28, 1953 with the CJ-3B,  the first CJ, very different style from its military predecessor, the Willys MB. The CJ-3B was higher hood to make room for the "Hurricane"  engine with higher distribution valves.

If ever there was a complaint from the CJ-2A and CJ-3A was due to lack of power. The new engine ended with such a complaint. The valve timing engine in F, designed by Barney Roos, generated 25% more horsepower and 9% more torque.

The brand new engine was combined with a transfer case designed to provide durability and quieter operation.
