2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee and SRT8

2008 Grand Cherokee

Introduction:
The Grand Cherokee 2008 was one of the first SUVs , construction instead of a separate truck frame and body, in 1992. Since then, the Grand Cherokee has been re-designed twice, recently for the 2005 models.
The Grand Cherokee is a little bit of an anomaly in the mid-size SUV world because it’s relatively compact, doesn’t have third-row seat. And despite its unibody, it is highly off road capable.
There are four basic models: Laredo, Limited, Overland, and the high-performance SRT8 variant. The latter is fitted with a 425-hp, 6.1-liter Hemi V-8 engine. Other Grand Cherokees can be fitted with 1 of 4 engines ranging : a 3.7-liter, 210-hp V-6 up to a 330-hp, 5.7-liter Hemi V-8.
What's New for 2008
Jeep has heavily revised the 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee's 4.7-liter V8 for 2008, and the engine is rated at 305 hp -- nearly as much as the larger Hemi V8. The company has also given the cabin a much-needed refresh, adding more soft-touch surfaces, upgraded a telescoping steering wheel, and lighting. Newly features include HID xenon headlights, the MyGIG hard-drive-based audio/navigation system, back-up camera, a rear entertainment system and Sirius Backseat TV. For shoppers planning to tap into the JGC's utility, technology like hill descent control, hill start assist and trailer sway control is now offered as well. Finally, availability of the diesel V6 engine, has been expanded to the base Laredo.

2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Pros & Cons :
  • Excellent off-road prowess
  • Large selection of engines
  • Quality materials enhance refined interior
  • Rear-seat comfort suffers due to limited legroom
  • Small cargo capacity for its class
  • The Grand Cherokee is a capable SUV -- but it isn't the standout it was back in the 1990s, simply because there are now so many good trucks on the market.
  • With its comfortable ride, strong performance and handling, as well as its luxurious interior, these 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee will make it much easier to sell the American public on diesels in the future.

The 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Jeep Grand Cherokee Review

The Jeep Grand Cherokee reviewers happy with its off-road capability, luxurious interior and a choice of engines. However, other midsize SUVs in 2009 offer better security and has reliability ratings with more best  interiors.

2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is rated:
• # 24in mid-size SUV Used $ 20K to $ 25K
• # 2009 17in affordable midsize SUV

The test drivers were pleased by the  5-seat masterful combination of 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee off-road toughness and behavior on the road. His scores of security and reliability rates run-of-the-pack environment, but it is most used off-road SUV can say. In general, the test drivers have said that this is a very good SUV for buyers who need the rugged off-road ability to get through the storms of snow, mud or any boulder-strewn trails.

2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The 2009 Grand Cherokee is not exelent, however. At best vehicle in its class, its fuel consumption is just average, and at least, it's terrible. This SUV has 2 or 4-wheel drive and 3 differents : a  4.7-liter  V8 , 3.7-liter V6 and 5.7-liters V8. The V6 models with two-wheel drive get 16/ 21 mpg on highway, which  is not ideal for a five-passenger SUV’s, and 4-wheel drive type with the biggest V8 engine just get 13/19 mpg city / motorway.

The reviewers noted that the back seat of The 2009 Grand Cherokee felt a little cramped, and its rear legs can reduce rear visibility. The 2009 Grand Cherokee is also behind crossovers competing in the cargo space. The testers said that most of the controls are easy to use, even if the navigation system can be difficult to understand. Standard features with 7-speaker stereo system, 8-way seat and tilt power driver adjustment and telescopic steering wheel include an audio controls, while higher levels of finish offer features such as navigation, trimmed seats leather and a DVD player in the back.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee, it's not the best SUV in its calss for family duty, but a refined better combination of  off- road prowess, comfortable  on-road and luxury interior, it is hard to beat.

2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Scores of cars :
Overall :: 7.7
Rating Review: 8.2
Performance: 8.5
Interior: 7.8
Cost of operation: 7.0
Safety: 9.0

Advantages and disadvantages :
High-quality interior and refined
Comfortable ride on road
Almost unbeatable off-road
Subpar fuel economy
crossover SUVs are more composed on the road
back seat is not particularly spacious

Considers :
Shoppers who need more seats and do not mind sacrificing some of brawniness the Jeep should try The 2009 Traverse. It gets  more safety and reliability that Jeep and Traverse offers perfect cargo and driners/passenger space inside the class. The 2009 Traverse gives a more comfortable ride on paved roads as The 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the #3 row is even suitable for adults, a rarity between mid SUVs used.

If you do not want to give the off-road capability of The 2009 Grand Cherokee, but need more space for passengers, consider the  2009 Toyota 4-Runner. While the Toyota 4Runner doesn’t earn best scores security, her reliability among the highest in its class. The interior of the 4Runner is basic and test drivers said it is not as refined on paved roads, but if you are looking for a reliable off-road SUV, the 2009 Toyota 4-Runner are hard to beat.
