The 2009  Liberty continues Jeep's reputation for building robust SUV with excellent off-road capability, but it’s much less refined than its rivals. If you are looking for  compact vehicle that will vanquish rivers mountains, the 2009 Liberty is one of the best in the same class. If you plan to stick to on-road performance, the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V offer smooth performance. When it’s new, test driver did not like truck-like handling, body lean, also squealing  tires in moderate corner and numb  steering. Most reviewers agreed that Liberty is not first choice for a best family vehicle. Liberty also got reliability ratings  and poor crash test for its class.

Inside, the reviewers did not like the interior of Liberty and complained of many poor quality materials. They also felt that Liberty had better leg space and headroom in the front, but the back seat was a bit cramped. Exit and entry is also tricky by cramped rear door opening, while most commentators said Liberty was sufficient loading space. On the other hand, several critics have appreciated the optional features available on 2009 Jeep Liberty, including wipers with rain sensor, “Uconnect” multimedia system  and memory seats.

The 2009 Subaru (Forester)  offers better security, performance,  reliability,  interior quality and better  fuel consumption than the 2009 Jeep Liberty. The 2009 Subaru Forester also has standard 4-wheel drive for extra insurance in a harsh climate.

If you are looking for capable off-road, the 2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser is a much better choice. FJ Cruiser  and Liberty comparable fuel consumption, but the 2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser produced 29 horsepower more than the Liberty’s V6 engine. In addition, the  2009 Toyota  FJ Cruiser has a very good reliability ratings and good safety scores, but they have said that back seat FJ Cruiser’s space was sparse.
