Jeep Compass
2011 Jeep Compass review
Jeep Compass |
“Chrysler” has been working its way through the lineup,
giving nearly all 2011 Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep vehicle interior and
mechanical re-revised, if not outright redesigning the entire model. Now turn
the tiny compass, and maintenance over the former than the latter. Compass
shares most of the dirty bits with other Jeep, such as the Jeep Patriot. The Jeep Patriot has also been revised for
this lauching. (You may recall that when the Patriot and Compass being examined
by focus groups prior to production, he favored the Patriot, while women prefer
to Compass. Jeep intended to build only one of the two vehicles, but not
really, you know, make a decision, companies producing them. And here we are.)
The 2011 Jeep Compass will get a new face, new nicer cabin
materials, new suspension, and new AWD system is optional off-road oriented.
The most obvious is the upgrade in the front, where the Compass receives a
different new hood, grille, fenders, fascia and headlights. The result looks
like the other vehicle, a Grand Cherokee, its shrunk in the wash and obtain
upswept smile, it's more interesting than the awkward appearance than the
outgoing model. Family resemblance, of course deliberate, and Jeep jokingly
referred to it as "Grand" Compass.

The rear restyled with a new roof spoiler, LED rear lights
and a new bumper, and the Compass Limited gets chrome exhaust tip and bumper
step plate. New chrome roof rails are available, and the lower side of the body
has a protective cladding to help deal with off-road or-more
likely-shopping-cart dings. 17-inch standard aluminum wheels, with chrome or
aluminum 18-inchers are available on Limited.
2011 model interior gains new three-spoke steering wheel
with integrated audio and cruise controls, a redesigned center stack,
high-quality upholstery, very soft-touch materials on all door panels, and new
backlit door switches. all trims Compass has a standard armrest and cruise
control.

As for the mechanical, 2011 Jeep Compass benefits from the same
suspension upgrades as seen in 2011 Patriot (and 2011 Dodge Caliber, another
platform-mate), this is high level springs and shock absorbers, as well as
thicker rear anti-roll bar. There is also a new All-Weather Capability package,
which complements SUV with Goodyear all-terrain tires, engine-block heater, tow
hooks, daytime running lights, all weather mats and rugs so that you will not
get all tangled when you drive Compass in the typhoon, which is good .
The 2011 Jeep Compass has no powertrain changes: With a 158-hp, 2.0-liter
4-cylinder is standard on base and
Latitude models, a 172-horsepowers, an optional2.4-liter unit on the 2
trims and standard on the Limited class. A 5-speed manual is standard on the
entry-level, with an optional continuously variable transmission, CVT standard
for the Latitude and Limited models.
Front-wheel drive is the default setting, while the two
system of all-wheel-drive can be equipped differently. Freedom Drive I brought
over from last year, but an active AWD system that can be locked to a mode
all-wheel-drive. New for 2011 is the Freedom Drive II package, more powerful
setup that was previously only available on the Patriot. This bundle low-range
gearing, skid plates, tow hooks, fog lamps, and a 1-inch suspension lift,
designed for those who want to try more serious off-roading with their Jeep
Compass-a demographic we did not know existed.
Compass revision will be in dealerships later this month.
While the new Grand Cherokee is a very capable both off-road and very competent
on the sidewalk, Compass which until now has been pretty horrible to drive, so
regardless of the new suspension, there are similarities between the GC and the
SUV was probably just skin deep. However, Chrysler has done a competency
instilled a very good job in many of his previous disappointment Sebring
product-witness-turned-200-and we look forward to finding out if it's happening
with Compass
